4 NEW TRACKS

DRIVING CHANGE WITH NETWORKS True leaders don’t get elected, they emerge. But they are nothing without networks turning their sparks of passion into transformative waves of change. Networks provide support, resources, and collective wisdom. They empower you to drive change and tackle challenges that might seem insurmountable alone. In this track we share the know-how and collaboration skills needed to build strong networks, and draw strength from each other’s experiences and determination.
RENATURING CITIES Green roofs and facades, renatured rivers and waterways – only 20 years ago these used to be niche topics. Not any longer! The pandemic has forcefully reminded us of the importance of nature in cities, and the first hot spell of summer will be nature’s next nudge: heat is a silent killer! This track follows nature advocates in cities, showing not only what nature can do for people and the climate, but also what it can do for cities internal reorganisation, for civic engagement and for public-private partnerships.
RETROFITTING BUILDINGS If building new inspires and wins awards, retrofitting existing building stock wins the climate game. With 80% of the structures that will stand in 2050 already built, retrofitting them is where the toughest nuts must be cracked. This track follows the leaders who are transforming the real estate sector and shows how innovators are retrofitting at scale and with close attention to local needs.
COMEBACK CITIES “By 2050, 70% of the world's population will live in cities". Aren’t averages boring if they hide the real stories of urban growth and decline! The majority of large urban areas in Europe are in fact stagnating or shrinking. In this track, we hear from cities coming back from the jaws of defeat, and learn how they are pulling away from the pack to once again become amazing places to live in and be visited. Connect with visionaries and makers on how to revitalise local identities, economies and that unique urban culture. What’s your city’s superpower?

The third day of Urban Future is traditionally dedicated to exploring the city in various ways. To fully understand what the sustainable projects of our host city are all about, attendees are invited to see, feel and experience them first-hand, in exclusive, small groups with great guides.

Łódź, located in the heart of Poland, is the country’s third-largest city. Historically known for its robust textile industry, Łódź has undergone a significant transformation in recent years – now it’s a vital cultural and industrial hub!
